The Meyers-Milias-Brown Act governs labor-management relationships in California local government: cities, counties, and most special districts.

The new edition reflects important changes from the previous (2006) 13th edition including:

  • Updated statutory language and discussion concerning AB 646, which took effect January 1, 2012, and implementing regulations. This new legislation provides for mandatory impasse procedure if requested when the parties have not reached a settlement of their dispute following mediation.
